Alicia Ribeiro
Alícia Dias Ribeiro is a Mozambican artist currently based in Maputo, her birthplace. She developed a keen interest in all things creative from an early age, focusing on art and design throughout her studies.
Since completing her Masters, Alícia has embarked on a diverse creative journey, from establishing a clothing line to launching an accessories brand. She has experimented with a variety of mediums including wood, roots, cement, resin, and even food, crafting appetisers and desserts.
Recently, Alícia has found her niche in digital illustration, honing her style and artistic voice since 2019. Her work primarily revolves around illustrating portraits, driven by a passion for empowering women and raising awareness to support BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists, which often serves as a central theme in her art.
For her illustration, Alicia was inspired by the nostalgia of her youth in the 90s and early 2000s, particularly the simple joys of life before technology, like waiting by the landline for a special call and being transported by music.
